Today, Within has announced that it has successfully raised $40 million in Series B funding co-led by Temasek and Emerson Collective. New investors also include WPP and MACRO Ventures with participation from existing investors Andreessen Horowitz, 21st Century Fox and Raine Ventures.
To date, Within has raised $56.6 million to position themselves as one of the leading studios in the VR industry.
“With the new wave of growth surrounding emerging formats like AR, there’s a tremendous amount of momentum in the industry right now,” said Chris Milk, Co-Founder and CEO of Within. “However, the biggest challenge that the industry is facing is the lack of access to compelling experiences for consumers. With incredible investment partners, we now have the opportunity to tackle this issue and accelerate getting technically complex, but emotionally powerful, immersive experiences to the public at large.”
Within has continually scraped away at providing users with the best and most unique VR experiences available to date, with their most recent project being Life Of Us. The company will continue to bolster their collection in content with the new successful round of funding. They’ll be hiring more engineering talent to create more engaging shared experiences for both entertainment and social impact.
Currently, Within supports all major devices where consumers engage with immersive content, including Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, HTC Vive, Sony Playstation VR, Google Daydream/Cardboard, as well as Android and Apple iOS devices.
