VRChat has recently gone viral around the world with the Ugandan Knuckles meme and the Russian Knuckles meme being born on the virtual platform. With a mixture of culture, dialect, and humor, the community has become overwhelmed with users spamming their phrases and making spitting noises everywhere you go.

However, there was a real life scenario that occurred recently where a user had a seizure while playing on the social VR platform. A YouTuber named Rogue Shadow VR was recording his session in VRChat when suddenly he saw an avatar collapse on to the floor.

You can hear the user make some irking noises which showed signs of distress. Usually in these situations, we’d imagine VRChat users not really caring or even making fun of the person but that certainly was not the case in this virtual room. The community gathered around the seizure victim and looked to see how they can assist the individual.

The users were mature about the situation and sought out advice on how to help a person going through a seizure. After a few minutes, the seizure victim regained consciousness and told everyone that he was “okay.” He couldn’t fully recollect what occurred and was updated about his situation. They showed compassion and expressly stated how he needs to get off VRChat and seek medical advice from a professional.

This can be a frightening moment for the individual. The community showed real human compassion in the virtual world which was quite heartwarming to see.

While the virtual world is populated by avatars, we must remember that we are all humans at the end of the day. We must show respect to each other while enjoying each others company. We look forward to seeing more human compassion shown to others in VR social spaces such as VRChat.
