Oculus has just released the trailer to their painting platform called Medium. In this short trailer, you can see all of the crafty ways to design and sculpt your imagination in the virtual world. Similar to the way you design things in Google’s Tilt Brush (available on HTC Vive) you use one hand as the paint brush and the other as the pallet.
Medium also incorporates the use of their new motion tracked controllers called the Oculus Touch. With the combination of the two, you’ll be able to design many things the way you do in real life. The stroke and the feel of the brush was desinged behind the real life movement.
Medium will give you numerous ways to paint with different shapes, sizes and colors. And since this is a Facebook owned company, you’ll have an easier time sharing this with the social media communities. They even allow you a way to 3D print what you’ve built in the VR space.
With the introduction of Medium, Oculus looks to stand tall against the mighty adversaries of HTC Vive and Google TiltBrush.
As a side note, if you’ve yet to paint in VR it’s one of the most enjoyable experiences you can have. Do try and make an effort to experience either Tiltbrush or Medium on either headsets.
