UNIVRS Looks To Crowdfund Little Witch Academia Into A Virtual Reality Game Called VR Broom Racing
UNIVRS, Inc. formerly known as EXPVR Inc., is expected to launch a crowdfunding initiative to turn Little WItch Academia into a virtual reality game called VR Broom Racing.
Little Witch Academia, produced by Studio TRIGGER, follows the heroine, Akko, who joins a magic school. It’s a story about youth and growing up with your friends as Akko overcomes trials even as she stumbles and makes mistakes.
This anime was announced in March 2013 as one of the titles part of Anime Mirai, a project to educate young animators, overseen by Yoh Yoshinari, the mecha design director and a key animator for Neon Genesis Evangelion. That July, they raised roughly 60 million yen on Kickstarter for a sequel called Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade, a movie that was released in October 2015. An animated TV series began in October 2017. As a story supported by both domestic and international fans, this series truly has grown up with its friends.
With the success of the franchise, they are looking to turn Little Witch Academia into a VR game. Described by UNIVRS, they want players to take on the role of one of the characters from the anime where you can freely fly around the sky on a broom and race using magic. VR broom racing will use
UNIVRS’s unique anti-motion sickness technology (patent pending) to greatly reduce the VR motion sickness.

“This game will be an amazing flying experience that will make the player truly feel like they’re flying!” said the team. UNIVRS is aiming for an April 2020 release, so the crowdfunding project for development and promotional funds will be up for 45 days, starting Wednesday, July 3, 2019.
