Vision 2017: Unity Showcases Their Solution Which Allows 360 Videos to be Rendered in Real Time
Unity has put together an amazing summit called Vision VR/AR where professionals in the industry showcase the latest technology available. Vision 2017 is happening now and many amazing news has already been announced. One in particular that caught our attention was the announcement of the new 360 video rendering platform.
Unity has put together an engine that can add layers, CG objects, interactivity, locomotion, and light into a 360 video that’s being rendered in real time.
“I want to show the power of real-time rendering,” said Natalie Grant of Unity. “If I decide I want to add some more birds for more a Alfred Hitchcock effect, all I have to do is select the birds, scroll up the sliders, and its instant.” Through the engine, you can add effects such as lens flares, digital animations, and interactivity in real-time. “These are a few small ways to make a regular 360 video interactive and immersive,” said Grant.
You can catch this presentation around the 1-hour mark.
