Every year with the VR platform maturing, we are seeing more and more studios join the community to launch their new IPs. Last year we saw a plethora of releases and we can anticipate the same with the year 2020.
Below is a quick rundown of the most anticipated VR game releases of 2020:
Half-Life: Alyx is Valve’s VR return to the Half-Life series. It’s the story of an impossible fight against a vicious alien race known as the Combine, set between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2.
Playing as Alyx Vance, you are humanity’s only chance for survival. The Combine’s control of the planet since the Black Mesa incident has only strengthened as they corral the remaining population in cities. Among them are some of Earth’s greatest scientists: you and your father, Dr. Eli Vance.
As founders of a fledgling resistance, you’ve continued your clandestine scientific activity—performing critical research, and building invaluable tools for the few humans brave enough to defy the Combine.
Every day, you learn more about your enemy, and every day you work toward finding a weakness.
Release Date: March 2020
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners starts you three years after the outbreak. You will take your journey through New Orleans which is now flooded with herds of walkers (zombies). This makes escaping the city near impossible.
The city is divided into districts accessible only by skiff and controlled by a community known as ‘The Tower’. With dwindling supplies, the Tower’s grip on the city is threatened when a brutal group called the Reclaimed rises against them. Anyone not in a faction must fend for themselves…few survive. Rumors suggest that a Cold War era bunker exists, loaded with years’ worth of food, medical supplies, and weapons.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond will be an immersive VR experience set in World War II, where you step into the boots of an agent of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in war torn Europe. A deep single-player campaign takes you through historic events on land, air, and sea, sabotaging Nazi bases, subverting enemy plans, aiding the French Resistance, and much, much more. With the Oculus Rift, the team will be bringing players into the Medal of Honor series in an entirely new way that transports you back to Europe in the 1940s.
Release Date: 2020
In the Walking Dead Onslaught, players will have to fight their fears head-on. The Walking Dead Onslaught invites players to assume the roles of their favorite survivors from the TV series, struggling against the relentless walker threat while confronting both the horrors and humanity of this apocalyptic new world.
In the game, Onslaught will introduce the “most visceral combat experience” that Survios has built to date. You will scavenge and wield an arsenal of iconic melee and ranged weapons using real-motion VR mechanics – and experience the variety of their graphic end results.
