The long awaited debut for The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is finally here.

Created by Skydance Interactive, the new title allows us to play as a character from the Walking Dead universe based in New Orleans which is flooded by walkers. But not only that, there are many friends and foes that live in the city with you.

Just over a month ago, we provided a quick glimpse of what we can expect from the game and now you have the chance to play through it yourself.

New Orleans is at war. The living are not just fighting the dead, but also inflicting pain and brutality upon each other. As bodies pile up between warring factions, whispers spread of a long-lost mystery in the city that could turn the tide of the war. Will you be able to survive while caught in the middle of this conflict? Can you unravel the mystery that is behind it all? The fate of the city and its survivors rests in your hands.

Fun features

Here are some of the big features we can see in the game. To start, you’ll see how it takes precise stabbing to the head to take down a zombie. You’ll be able to melee kill these flesh eating monsters with your knife with a broad stroke to the head.

If for some reason you get damaged by the zombies or other humans you can eat food or bandage yourself up to heal yourself. But it doesn’t happen with just a simple press of the button. You will have to follow through the actual motions to apply the healing which was a nice touch.

There’s also some pretty neat details when it comes to items such as smoking a cigarette which is unnecessary but fun to see. They literally describe the item as “smoke’em if you got ’em I guess…”

Making decisions

NPCs help kill zombies if they are close by. But one of the unique factors to these characters are how you can make choices of killing or working with certain factions.

They provide you with details in what has happened and you make an informed decision based on their statements/actions. That’s a nice touch as it makes it feel more realistic than just simply following one story line.

There will be a versatility in weapons that range from simple knives, swords, pistols, shotguns, and assault rifles. But the way they aim and function is a step up from a lot of VR games.

The only question that we have is, will there be a hardcore mode which makes the game even more realistic? Will it allow us to play in a mode where taking one shot from enemies will actually kill us to feel even more realistic?

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners versions

There are two editions to The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. One is the standard version for $40 and the other is the Tourist Edition for $50.

If you purchase the Tourist version you will three unique weapon recipes, collectible voodoo dolls, the game’s soundtrack, and The Supernatural Skeptic’s Guide to New Orleans companion piece.

The game is available on the Valve Index, HTC Vive, and the Oculus Rift. Let us know your thoughts about the game.
