Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay Now Available For Free On HTC Vive And Gear VR
LucasFilm and ILMxLAB have been hard at work in creating a new VR experience called “Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay – Astro-mechanic for the Resistance.”
In the experience, participants will join BB-8 aboard General Leia’s ship in the depths of space. By working quickly to repair Poe Dameron’s popular sidekick and his droid friends, participants help the Resistance in their fight against the First Order.
Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay – Astro-mechanic for the Resistance will be introducing yet-unseen droids to the Star Wars universe created specifically for ILMxLAB’s virtual reality story, each with their own unique personalities.
To put the cherry on top, Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay – Astro-mechanic will be free for all Vive and Gear VR users starting December 6th. That’s right, you’ll be able to work on droids in the Star Wars universe in VR. You can download the HTC vive version here for free. You can download the Gear VR version here for free06.
Something cool that ILMxLAB did for this particular VR experience is that they have taken steps to create a widely accessible story for all users including those with disabilities. The experience leverages months of research by ILMxLAB team members into accessibility in VR development. You can learn more about the research here.
Note it only shows Vive at the bottom. Are they payed to do that?? I don’t get it. Rift and Touch will work too, but lets just say : for the HTC Vive.
