Virtual and augmented reality technology has been a hot commodity for the real estate industry as of recent. Many companies are trying to make the search for your next home a little easier and convenient by using the two growing technologies. Realtor.com, one of the largest companies in the real estate world, is releasing two new apps for the Android platform that allows you to tour and get information about a house with the use of augmented reality technology.
The two apps are called Street Peek and Sign Snap. The Street Peek app uses augmented reality technology to display information and details about a certain house when you point your android smartphone camera at it. The cool thing about this app is that it pulls up information about a house even if it isn’t up for sale. This allows you to grasp the general price range of certain areas and neighborhoods while figuring out how much your future home will cost.
The Street Peek app will also provide information on a group of houses all at the same time. You’ll see info such as rental price, the latest price it was sold at, estimated value of the house, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, what year the house was constructed, and etc. Street Peek will also display a map of nearby homes when you tilt the screen using AR technology. This particular app will be available in the spring.
The Sign Snap app however, will be available starting today on Android devices. Sign Snap uses GPS to access your location and information about housing in your near vicinity. And to find out more about a particular home that’s on sale, all you have to do is take a picture of a “For Sale” sign with your phone.
iOS versions for the 2 apps will be available after the launch on Android smartphones.
