Oculus has announced that the price of the Rift VR headset will be permanently brought down to $399. This is the same price that Oculus had the Rift headset during their Summer Sale. At the beginning of the year the price was set at $599 so having it permanently brought down to $399 is a bold step from the company.
But this will be one of many different headsets that Oculus will have available to the public next year. We will be looking forward to the Oculus Go and the Santa Cruz headset some time next year which offers inside-out tracking and 6DoF for the Santa Cruz.
Oculus is gearing up to compete against the line of headsets that will be launching this holiday season. This includes the Windows mixed reality headsets, Google’s standalone headsets with HTC and Lenovo, and the upcoming Pimax 8K VR headset.
