Nvidia has made a set of announcements in regards to their Titan Xp graphics card. The company has unveiled that the new Titan Xp will be one of their flagship graphics cards that delivers amazing performance for your PC.

Key Stats:

  • 12GB of GDDR5X memory running at 11.4 Gbps
  • 3,840 CUDA cores running at 1.6GHz
  • 12 TFLOPs of brute force

Nvidia has made the Titan Xp available today for the low cost (sarcasm) of $1,200. They have also set a limit to 2 per person who are wanting to purchase this powerful pascal architecture. “TITAN Xp is powered by Pascal to deliver up to 3X the performance of previous-generation graphics cards, plus innovative new gaming technologies and breakthrough VR experiences,” said Nvidia.

In addition to this bit of news, Nvidia also announced that their new Titan Xp graphics card will be available to the Mac community. Their new Pascal Drivers which are optimized for the Mac Pro will be available later this month. This marks the first time that Mac users have access to the powerful and award-winning Pascal-powered GPUs.

Nvidia will also make their GeForce GTX 1080 and 1080 Ti available for the new Mac Pros, in addition to the other 10-series models. This makes you wonder if the new Mac Pros will be able to handle PC based VR headsets such as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

“To be clear, our current Mac Pro has met the needs of some of our customers, and we know clearly not ALL of our customers,”Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing to Tech Crunch. “None of this is black and white, it’s a wide variety of customers. Some… it’s the kind of system they wanted; others, it was not,” says Schiller.

“In the meantime, we’re going to update the configs to make it faster and better for their dollar. This is not a new model, not a new design, we’re just going to update the configs. We’re doing that this week.”

Starting today, you can purchase a baseline Mac Pro model for $2,999 which comes with:

  • 3.5GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 processor
  • 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory
  • Dual AMD FirePro D500 with 3GB GDDR5 VRAM each
  • 256GB PCIe-based flash storage

For the $3,999 model, you will get a Mac Pro that comes with:

  • 3.0GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5 processor
  • 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory
  • Dual AMD FirePro D700 with 6GB GDDR5 VRAM each
  • 256GB PCIe-based flash storage

This is quite an intimidating price point but many Apple fans will be delighted to hear that Nvidia’s Pascal GPU drivers will be available for these models.
