There was a lot of hype around some new VR experiences this week on the Oculus Rift, especially with the release of Blade Runner: 2049 Memory Lab VR experience. Here is our list of the best new releases this week on the Oculus Rift.
Below is a list of new VR games and experiences available on the Oculus Rift:
Blade Runner 2049: Memory Lab – Free
After some delays, Oculus has announced the official release of Blade Runner 2049 Memory Lab on Oculus Rift. The game follows the storyline from the recent movie featuring Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in a futuristic dystopian society overrun by bio-engineered human beings.
In the VR game, you’ll play as a Blade Runner who, after the violent ending in Blade Runner 2049: Replicant Pursuit, reports to the Wallace Corporation’s Memory Lab at the Wallace Corporation for incident analysis. With the help of a holographic AI similar to the character of Joi in the movie, you’ll explore your memories of the event, reconstructing and interacting with them as you uncover a mysterious conspiracy.
Melita takes place in a dystopian like world where Melita, an advanced AI, and Anaaya, a brilliant female scientist are tasked to find a new planet that humans can inhabit. The two characters are surrounded by snow, ice, and anything else that reminds you of the antarctic. They also have a futuristic spaceship that’s able to travel intergalactic to other planets. It’s hung in the air by some futuristic contraptions which was really interesting to see in VR.
While researching and exploring the desolate planet, the two female characters also take on a personal journey to figure out the meaning of life.
In this particular VR game, you’ll be playing as the main character named Theseus who battles great monsters and challenging foe. You’ll be offered a new take on the great myths behind the Minotaur and the labyrinth. The game will first start you off as you awake from slumber. Stranded in a hostile and mysterious place, you must listen to a faint voice of Ariadne who will guide you in your journey.
Theseus will be played in third person and will offer a hero’s story that’s likable. “He is ‘only human’ while his enemy, besides being 33 feet tall, has otherworldly strength… and he is invulnerable,” said Sameuele Perseo, Producer at Forge Reply. “Theseus cannot just fight the Minotaur head-on: each encounter between the two poses a new challenge. It may be necessary to resort to stealth, or an ancient mechanism could be the key to escape death. The monster is blind, but his hearing and his smell are sharp. Moreover, the Minotaur can send his minions to stalk Theseus; in that case, there will be no other option but to fight.”

In Kartong, you’ll find yourself captured against your will in the deadly city. Your whole life will depend on using mediocre weapons that are made from office supplies. You’ll also be shrunken down to the size of a toilet paper roll wher eyou will be defending yourself from abdnormal creatures.
The setting takes place in an urban environment in the city of Katong. The game featuers both teleportation movement and locomotion movement which gives you choices.
