Lenovo Showcases Rumored DaystAR At Tech World Innovation Summit

Today, during the third annual Tech World innovation summit, Lenovo showcased their latest concept products including an AR headset called daystAR. This new headset is a standalone unit capable of delivering 40-degree field of view. The headset won’t require a PC or mobile device to operate as it has an independent vision processing unit with free-formed surface lenses.

The new wearable will have Lenovo’s own AR platform where developers can use daystAR to create applications across a variety of industries.

This comes after the announcement with Disney where they’re creating their own proprietary AR headset that’s powered by a mobile device. On stage during the innovation summit, Lenovo put on a demo where they were digitally repairing an aircraft engine.

There wasn’t any indication as to whether daystAR will go into production or when they might possibly launch the AR headset to the public. But Lenovo did state that daystAR currently has 86 patents pending, which is rather a large list.
