Niantic, the creators of Pokemon Go, have taken home the coveted “Best Mobile Game” title at this years 2017 Webby Awards. The company has quickly arose to the top using AR technology and made it the fastest app to gross over $1 billion. While accepting the award, Niantic Global Product Marketing Lead Archit Bhargava said in a cryptic sentence, “This summer will be legendary,” hinting at the big legendary events to come this summer.
Niantic has been a shut door when talking about the legendary Pokemon such as Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, but this summer might be the season where trainers all over the world have a chance at catching these legendaries. We’ve already had Water, Egg, and other various adventure themed events in the game. This time around might be a little different and a lot more exciting.
While nothing is concrete or confirmed, this would make sense on Niantic’s side as beloved fans and trainers have been patiently waiting for quite some time now. Additionally, Niantic CEO John Hanke indicated that Legendary Pokemon are a big part of their plans for the game in 2017.
