Insomniac Games has recently teased us about an upcoming open world VR game that they are currently working on and now we finally have more information. The new VR game is titled Stormworld.
Presented by Insomniac Games and Oculus Studios, Stormland is an action‐adventure game that brings the structure of first-person open‐world exploration to virtual reality.
In Stormland, you’re an android gardener on a lush alien planet, but The Tempest shattered your android body. Now you must journey through an ever-changing cloudscape to augment yourself and save your friends. Explore an expansive world with complete freedom—bound up cliffs, glide across chasms, and fly through the slipstream with velocity.
Detonate explosives, harness electricity, and wield makeshift weapons to overcome titanium sentries and monolithic guardians. You will be able to play Stormland in single-player mode or explore the forgotten ruins together with friends.
In the trailer you can see how technology will dictate gameplay. It seems as though your android is equipped with rocket boosters which enables you to travel greater distances. Players will also be able to climb up steep cliffs and make the impossible jumps. You will have access to a variety of arsenal such as stun grenades, machine guns, shields, and more.
The game also looks to be played through smooth locomotion. You will be able to walk, run, and jump across the lands without having to teleport from spot to spot.
Stormland is a work in progress title where we’ll be learning about the release date later down the road. This will be an exclusive title on the Oculus Rift developed by Insomniac Games. This is the first open world game VR game developed by the studio who has a long successful track record of created amazing AAA titles. Their most recent AAA project is the upcoming Spider-Man game which is highly anticipated by the gaming community.
