Just when you thought the prices can’t go any higher for the HTC Vive Pro bundle it does. The company has released their headset on the Amazon marketplace for a whopping $1,400. Yup, that’s right. fourteen hundred American US dollars.
The bundle comes with the usual controllers, headset, and Steam VR 2.0 tracking lighthouses. Just a couple of weeks ago the company stated that the bundle would be available for $1,100 US dollars but that doesn’t seem to be the case on the Amazon marketplace.
In addition, they look to sell the HTC Vive Pro for even a more ridiculous price of ¥162,880 yen which is around $1,500 (tax excluded) in Japan. The company has faced heavy backlashes for their outlandish prices and now seems to be on the chopping block again with the inflated costs.
Valve has stated in the past that the 2.0 lighthouses would be cheaper to produce but that doesn’t seem to go along the lines with the HTC Vive Pro bundle. Rather, the prices seem to be inflated for these new lighthouses coming inside the bundle package.
We do not know the reasoning behind HTC and their inflated prices but it will be a tough task for the company to move any of these headsets in the marketplace.
