Let’s face it, choosing the right furniture for your home or business is tough. You have to instinctively remember to measure the length and width prior to shopping for household items. If you don’t, you risk your new furniture not fitting properly at the house. Additionally, you have to decide if the new furniture will pair well alongside your existing household items. Feng Shui is a big aspect for many homeowners, which makes shopping for furniture that much more cumbersome. To tackle this issue, Pottery Barn has created an intuitive AR app, which will let you preview furniture prior to purchase.
The goal of this AR app is to help shoppers find the right products for their homes. With the 3D room view, you’ll have options to decorate your existing space with digital items available at Pottery Barn. You can add furniture such as lamps, rugs, pillows, tables, beds, sofas, and more. You’ll have the perfect idea if an item belongs, or doesn’t belong in your home.
However, this particular AR app by Potter Barn is exclusively available for Google Tango enabled phones. This means that you’ll be stuck with two choices between the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro and the Asus ZenFone AR. It won’t be available on iPhone or other Android devices quite yet. Also, the Pottery Barn AR app will only be available in the San Francisco bay area, meaning you can’t use it if you don’t live in the vicinity. This is quite ironic as Pottery Barn is trying to market their products through an intuitive technology such as AR. The company is planning to release two other AR apps, which quite doesn’t make sense.
The other AR apps will allow you to design your own rooms around a Pottery Barn desk and show you couches in 360 view. Companies such as Ikea have already implemented a similar technology to assist shoppers in furnishing their homes.
If you own a Lenovo Phab 2 Pro or an Asus ZenFone AR in the bay area, be sure to give the Pottery Barn AR app a go.
