A lot of new information and news has been flowing about Valve’s New Knuckles controllers these past few days. We’ve seen numerous demos and ideas on how the controllers work. Today, Cloudhead Games Studio (developers behind Call of the Starseed) has released a new informative video about how Valve’s Knuckles controllers work.

In the beginning you’ll see the box containing the controllers with informative descriptions and instructions.
Magic! – LET GO + CONTROLLERS STAY PUT CAPACITIVE SENSORSFOR FINGER + GRASP DETECTION IMPROVED ERGONOMICS + WEIGHT NEXT GEN TRACKPAD TECHNOLOGY
Below that description it has a caution notice.
There are no serviceable parts. If this prototype system is not working properly, please email “Valve” for instructions.
After the quick overview, you can see how the controller fits tightly around the hands of the user. He describes the Knuckles controllers as it being similar to the Vive wand when its unstrapped. But the real “magic” happens once you tighten it. It suddenly becomes a part of the hand where the controller stays put even with the vigorous shake of the hand.
During the tutorial, he describes how certain motions work with the Knuckles. If you want to roll your thumb back towards the palm of your hands you just simply swipe down on the pad. He states that the cap sense can “detect it from pretty far away.” Also, the index finger can be noticed when it’s not resting on the controllers through the various mounted sensors.
