Apple’s special event is currently underway where they’ve unveiled the new iPhone X. Along with the debut of the new iPhones, they’ve also unveiled some new features with the use of augmented reality technology.

In the new iOS11, Apple will use a technology called Face ID that scans your face for various features such as unlocking your phone.  This face scanning technology will be able to digitally recreate animations and us AR to recreate the current emojis we’re all familiar with today.

Animoji will be available within the message app for iOS 11 and it’ll immediately pick up your facial expressions and create animations based on those expressions. Emojis will be able to be edited in full screen before sending it to your friends and family.

Apple has stated that the Animoji is a “Custom animated messages that use your voice and reflect your facial expressions.” Essentially, Animoji is the revolutionized version of the emoji that can be digitally enhanced through AR technology. Get ready people. the poop emoji will now have new meaning.

 iPhone X will start shipping on November 3rd for $999.
