Currently, the HTC Vive headset costs around $799, which is quite expensive for many people wanting to test out virtual reality. On top of that, you’ll require a powerful PC to operate the device. So in order to grow the market and make it more affordable, companies like JD.com will be offering the Vive headset at a monthly plan.
For the U.S., JD.com will be offering a 0% financing deal with a monthly plan of $138 on top of shipping and handling over a span of 6 months. You can also take their 12 month, 0% financing option at $66.58/month. For those looking for a lower payment option, JD will offer a 7.99% plan for $40.13 a month over the course of two years.
In China, you’ll have the choice of 3 option to choose from. The first option is ¥2,296 ($334.05) over the course of 3 months. The next option is ¥1,148 ($167.02) over the course of 6 months. There is no word yet for other countries and territories.
This is a great trend for purchasing the Vive headset as it’ll extend your finances and make the Vive headset more affordable for casual users. As the popularity grows for the device, we’ll be sure to see more options and plans offered by various companies. We hope the same will be offered for the Oculus Rift headset
