Oculus has been working towards making their Rift headset more and more affordable for the daily consumer. Just a couple months ago they took $100 off from both the Rift and Touch, putting the bundled pricing at $600.

To further make the solution more viable for consumers, Oculus will be offering their full roomscale bundle for $657.99 on Amazon. This includes the Rift headset, Oculus Touch controllers, and an extra sensor for the roomscale VR experience. The Rift and Touch individually come with a sensor. Purchasing an additional sensor allows the user to have the full roomscale VR experience.

On top of the bundle, Oculus will be throwing in 7 free VR experiences including: Robo Recall, Lucky’s Tale, Dragon Front, Quill, Medium, Dead & Buried, and Toybox. Also, they’ll be providing you with $100 Oculus Store Credit to use towards any games. “Once you make the purchase you’ll receive a promotional code with redemption instructions via email within two days of your order shipment,” according to Oculus.

To note, you still require a PC to operate the Rift headset. Below is the minimum requirements for a PC to run the Oculus Rift:

  • Nvidia 960 or greater (down from Nvidia GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater)
  • Intel i3-6100 / AMD FX4350 or greater (down from Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater)
  • 8GB+ RAM (same)
  • Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output (same)
  • 1x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0 (change from 2x USB 3.0 ports)
  • Windows 8 or newer (change from Windows 7 SP1 or newer)

Additionally, having 3 sensors plugged into your PC can be taxing. Here’s a quick guide on how to optimize USB bandwidth when running roomscale for the Oculus Rift.

The sale itself will start on June 11th – 24th, which is the starting week of E3. While Oculus hasn’t officially titled it as a special E3 offering, the timing makes sense as many VR games will be discovered at the E3 conference. So if you’ve yet to pick up an Oculus Rift of your own make sure to take advantage of this deal while it lasts. This is the best deal that Oculus has offered yet for their full roomscale bundle.
